Eyes on the Future Radio Show Airs Every Saturday on WHAM 1180
How does the future look for the Greater Rochester, N.Y., Region? Organizers of the Eyes on the Future Summit, along with partners Greater Rochester Enterprise, and Harter Secrest & Emery LLP will answer this question every Saturday morning from 10 – 11 a.m. on WHAM-1180 AM.
Rochester residents and business leaders are encouraged to call in to the show to voice their opinions, concerns and ideas for success during a frank discussion focused on working together to strengthen the area's economy and keep local business growing.
The weekly, hour-long, live call-in show will discuss and examine the Rochester regional economic conditions and how the community can work together to strengthen the economy. Attendees of the 2008 summit expressed their desire to sustain the day's momentum throughout the year, and this show will be the first effort to achieve that goal.
The show will address numerous topics about how to grow the local economy, including practical advice to small businesses, SOHOs and entrepreneurs on legal issues, finance, employment issues, marketing and overall strategy. The show will also allow the general public to have their questions answered about how global, national, state and local economies might impact them, including the upcoming New York state budget. Other topics will include industries in transition, such as manufacturing, and aligning the local workforce with high-demand jobs in the region. Perhaps most importantly, the Eyes on the Future show will give Rochesterians a voice about issues that impact them.
The show will also explain the importance of Rochester's regional assets and how they affect business decisions. "The Greater Rochester Region has so many tremendous assets and we sometimes take them for granted," said Mark Peterson, interim president of Greater Rochester Enterprise. "Site selectors and corporate real estate developers continually tell GRE that our abundant fresh water, infrastructure, educational assets and skilled workforce are competitive advantages other communities would envy."
"Having worked to place all level of employees right here in Rochester, I can easily say we do not lack talent," said Thomas Ioele, chairman of the Eyes on the Future and president and CEO of Employee Relations Associates, Inc. "At this point it is a matter of aligning the talent we have here with the current jobs available and the growth industries emerging in our own backyard."
