Growing the Economy in the Greater Rochester Region: Drawing on the Competencies of the Finger Lakes
Project Description
The “Growing the Economy in the Greater Rochester region” report was commissioned to identify the key competencies in the Finger Lakes Wired region of Upstate New York, and develop recommendations on strategies to capitalize on these existing competencies to grow the region’s economy. The study was conducted by summarizing key findings from local economic reports, identifying successful businesses and convening executives from those local businesses to identify key regional competencies and provide recommendations for continued success.
Recommended strategies to improve the local economy included specific efforts to foster the development of management competencies and technical competencies, as well as further promotion of enabling competencies.
Outcome from Using the Product
- Identify the benefit(s) users will derive from replicating the product.
- Provide support and direction or “next steps” in moving the Wired initiative forward through a set of economic and workforce development strategies that take advantage of the region’s competencies.
