RFP Update: Finger Lakes Wired to Fund STEM, High Tech Career Programs
Finger Lakes Wired will fund multiple programs to provide 486 youth with opportunities to expand their skills in high-tech, high-growth industries, and to attend Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) camps.
The projects were selected based on criteria outlined in two Request for Proposals issued in December. Full story
Applications Now Being Accepted for Wired Summer Internship Program - Connects Educators and Employers
Up to 30 educators will be selected to spend two days at businesses in optics and imaging, life sciences, food and agriculture, advanced manufacturing, information technology, or health care. This is the third year for the program, which helps educators better understand today’s workplace, including the skills and educational requirements for in-demand careers. Full story |
Presentations from 2008 International Advanced Technology, Food and Agriculture Conference Now Available Online
Video and PowerPoint presentations from speakers are now available online. The event drew more than 100 attendees and featured public and private industry leaders discussing challenges relating to food safety and advances in technology. Full story |

Young People Learn About High Tech Careers and Earn Laptops
Hard work and motivation paid off for 57 exceptional students from the Urban League of Rochester’s Summer Technical Institute and Technology Clubs when they were rewarded with their own laptop computers. The program provided an eight-week summer institute at Monroe Community College’s Applied Technology Center, as well as an afterschool program at the Urban League. Full story |
