Finger Lakes Wired has grant funding available for businesses to upgrade worker skills.
Businesses in emerging industries are encouraged to apply for up to $25,000 in

Finger Lakes Wired has awarded $370,000 to Finger Lakes, Genesee and Monroe Community
Colleges for the creation of a Regional Center for Workforce Excellence.
The proposed virtual Center will provide students and job seekers
with access to technical, lab-based non-credit and credit programs via distance learning and

Young Entrepreneurs Academy Helps Students Turn Ideas into Meaningful Enterprises
Over the past four years, more than 100 students have participated in YEA! and 50 student enterprises have been launched. Four classes graduated at the University of Rochester, and students were able to attend YEA!’s second location at the SUNY – Geneseo in 2007 with student scholarship support from WIRED. Full story |

WIRED Biotechnology Program Gives Students Glimpse of High-Tech Future Careers Skills
Lauren Mullen, a senior at Byron-Bergen High School, plans to attend college after graduation to study veterinary science. This summer, she took the opportunity to participate in the WIRED Biotechnology Program at Genesee Community College, a course that allowed students to earn money while attending college credit courses for six weeks.
